Rotorua Museum sends AEIOU exhibition on the road

In 2015 the team at Rotorua Museum developed the exhibition: AEIOU Tūhurahia te arapū Māori | Explore the Māori alphabet. This is entertaining, family exhibition focused on the Māori alphabet and visitors enjoyed learning Māori words through a diverse mix of objects from the Rotorua Museum collection.
Local Rotorua artist, Kereama Taepa, created unique designs for all 15 letters of the Māori alphabet with pictures hidden within each letter (copies of which can be seen in the Rotorua Library Children’s Area). From Aotearoa (New Zealand) to whare (house), ngata (snail) to hoiho (horse) the exhibition was originally on display at Rotorua Museum from 21 November 2015 – 1 May 2016.
Following the closure of Rotorua Museum in late 2016 for earthquake strengthening the Museum staff looked at ways of sharing some of the internally developed exhibitions with other museums and galleries.
